Tea Review: Alexanders Patisserie

I was able to go to Alexanders Patisserie for their more recent offering of afternoon tea! We went Valentines day weekend (yes I am very late posting my review!) and I'm glad I got a chance to try this new afternoon tea offering in Mountain View!

For this tea you must book and pre-pay in advance online which I quite like actually since it makes it less awkward on the day. The Mountain View location is super convenient to get to via Caltrain and driving for me.

Ease of access (location, hours, ease of making reservation, dietary menu options): 8/10

The atmosphere is similar to the Croissant Bakery where it's primarily a fancy bakery but with an afternoon tea offering on the side. It's a little more fancy and a little less rustic. The decor was nothing to write home about but also not bad, very white marble and medium grey furniture. The place settings were plain but serviceable. The staff were lovely though after the initial ordering of tea and bringing out of the tea service they mostly left us alone. This may have been because, as a bakery, they were still busy for Valentines day (since we went on the 15th).

Atmosphere (décor, place settings, staff): 7/10

This tea requires you to book in advance for at least 2+ people. It's nice having all the tax and gratuity added in at time of checkout. This tea is $65 base price per person (and works out to about $85 per person with tax and tip). This is one of the pricier options but with the extra fancy desserts and twists on the classics I would probably be back to sample a different seasonal offering!

Price (value for money): 8/10

The tea menu was decently extensive with a good amount of flavored black teas on offer! The pots were decently large also so we did not need a refill of hot water throughout our tea.

Tea: 8/10

The scones were fine, fairly basic and small but overall tasty with two each. We only got lemon curd and not any sort of jam.

Scones (and/or crumpets): 6/10

The savories were basic looking but with a twist for each! The turkey and cheese sandwich was grilled so it was warm and melty. The egg salad had some truffle oil flavor and instead of a chicken salad sandwich it was a crab salad sandwich! I appreciated the twists on the classics though the crab salad was quite seafood-y tasting to me so it was less successful for my taste but still an interesting substitution.

Savories: 9/10

The sweets were a good variety of fruit based and chocolate with different textures! They also all looked very cute and expensive. My favorite was the raspberry and passion fruit mouse pudding thing.

Sweets: 10/10

Total: 8/10

I'd recommend this tea if you can get a sport for a very small group of 2-4. Not great for a meetup spot but a lovely selection of tasty food- especially the very cute and tasty desserts!

Of course I forgot to take a picture of my full outfit that day 😅
