I learned that a new afternoon tea place opened up in Sunnyvale in September through Discord and very soon someone posted about waning to check it out so of course I had to snatch a spot and add it to the tea review list!

Tea Review: Crown and Crumpet

I was able to go to Crown and Crumpet with some friends this weekend! This is a comm staple as it's right below Baby in the New People Building in SF Japantown.

Tea Review: Son & Garden

I was finally able to go to Son & Garden due to it being Veterans day and having the day off on a weekday! 

Son & Garden has several locations one in SF, Menlo Park, and Palo Alto. I went to the one in Palo Alto as it was close to me but also looked like it had the best atmosphere between the two locations near me. Unfortunately the tea service is only available on non holiday weekdays so timing wise it was hard for me to find a time that worked to go. The actual process of making a reservation online was really easy though and it was pre-paid (I'm still not sure how I feel about this option?). There is a vegetarian option but no gluten free at this time.
Ease of access (location, hours, ease of making reservation, dietary menu options): 7/10

I've mentioned this place a few times to out-of-town friends as "the most Instagramable" tea place in the bay and I still feel like this is an accurate statement! The atmosphere is very intensely floral with a purpose. Even the chairs are a cute shade of pink and gold. The plates and tea pots were really colorful and detailed and the staff came by quite a few times to refill both our hot and cold water. I managed to catch one of the last weeks for the Barbie tea set witch came in this cute drawer set with a Barbie in her car on top!
Atmosphere (décor, place settings, staff): 10/10

The tea was $110 for two people. We both left very full and there was a good variety of sweets. 
Price (value for money): 8/10

The tea was all Harney and Sons with several black teas, a few green and herbal teas to choose from. Each of us got to pick out our tea bag from a box rather than a menu. I liked the Paris tea I got which is a kind of dark fruity-floral black tea that I've gotten in the past from their website. It's nice tea brand with a decent selection but I was expecting more loose leaf tea experience?
Tea: 7/10

The scones were blueberry and tasty but really hard to cut as they were kind of flat and very crumbly. There was a good amount of clotted cream but no jam.
Scones (and/or crumpets): 6/10

The savories included 3 sandwiches: egg salad, smoked salmon, and cucumber cream cheese. I was not a fan of the smoked salmon since I'm just not a fan of fish generally but the salmon was on there in a generous portion. The other two were kind of average nothing great but not bad. I wish there was one more sandwich and one less sweets
Savories: 5/10

There were kind of two sweets tiers, one that was served in the same drawer as the scone which included banana bread in the shape of a banana and a strawberry Danish. The third tier had a pineapple/citrus tart, a bonbon, a mini strawberry cheese cake and a mocha mouse cake thing. On the top of the drawers there was also a panna cotta and a bit of cotton candy with some fruit. It was a LOT of sweets.
Sweets: 7.5/10

Total average rating: 7.2/10

I would recommend this place for tea if you have time during the week and really want to get fancy and take some great pictures with some tasty sweets! It was a little pricy compared to some of the places I've gone so make sure you take that into account. I think the Palo Alto spot would be good for a medium sized 6-12 person group for hosting there.
