Sprinkles Cupcakes

I'm back with another cupcake place review! This time I went to Sprinkles Cupcakes in Palo Alto's Stanford Shopping Center. This is a national chain of cupcake places so you can get them even in airport vending machines! I had my customary vanilla on vanilla and the person working said that their most popular flavor was the red velvet so I got that one as the other flavor.

Atmosphere: The shop was quite small and very wood toned. There weren't any tables or chairs but one long bench inside and one long one outside for seating. I guess this is meant to be more of a to-go cupcake place but I did end up sitting inside to eat my cupcakes anyway 1.5/5

Frosting: The frosting was what you would expect of a cupcake in terms of sweetness, very american buttercream and a little bit gritty almost from the sugar. There wasn't too much though so it didn't overwhelm the cake part and none was added in the middle so I think it balanced ok 3/5

Cake: The cake was very dense and moist, no complaints here for the cake part! A solid cake base 3/5

Price: Each cupcake came out to be ~$6.10 which is a little bit over my expectation of about $5 per cupcake I was expecting most places to be. 3.5/5

Overall rating: 2.75/5

Bonus points: since I hung out in the corner of the store reading manga for a while eating my cupcakes, the person at the counter ended up offering me free cupcakes? He ended up giving me 4 cupcakes which was more than the 2 I bought originally o.o I wasn't even dressed fancy in lolita this day! It was very surprising! But hey I'll take free cupcakes <3

I would say that this is a decent place to get some cupcakes for a party or to stop by and get one if you are craving it and you're close by but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go here again.
